Blog Project

I think the culture exchange project through blogs is a good idea, it is faster and easier.
Because in one of my other classes i have a pen pal in Japan and it takes a long time to get the letters back and forth from here to Japan. And if i am talking to someone from a different country through my blog, my message would get through alot faster then a letter.
I dont have any suggestions or future improvements.

Place i Love/Where to go

I don't have a favorite place to go in the U.S., I love the city I live in because of it's unique climate and all the different things this city has to offer like education (University of Texas, St.Edwards University etc.), the diversity, all of the events, and the music(Music Capitol)..
but I've always wanted to travel.

One place I would like to travel to one day is New York City. It's a big city full of lots of people and lots of things, and really different from Austin. Lots of movies and tv show's have been filmed in New York City. And it's the perfect place to go shopping. I would also like to go see all of the world famous landmarks and neighborhoods.

So i don't have a favorite place, if i did, it would be right here in Austin.
And also a place i've always wanted to go.

Terrorists

We have had multiple terrorist attcks in the U.S., our most recent one that shocked and scared the nation was September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 Islamist terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners.The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the building. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying at least two nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania, after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There are no survivors from any of the flights. After 9/11 our country has strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded law enforcement powers.

Anderson High School

The high school i am attending right now is Anderson High School in north Austin, Texas.
Our colors are Blue and Gold, and the mascot is the Trojan. At Anderson there is alot of clubs to join, sports to play and a lot of other things to do here.

illegal immigrants in U.S.

My country does have illegal immigrants, down south in Texas and California they mainly come from Mexico and other countries in South America. In places like New York people come from over sea's. And in the northern states in the U.S. most immigrants are from Canada.

They come to our country in search of better lives. Better health care for their families. Better jobs with way better pay. And the many luxuries the United States holds.

I know a little bit about the immigrants from Mexico because alot of them go to Texas, and the government plans on dealing with immigrants by putting up a wall along the U.S/Mexico borders and continue sending illegal immigrants back to their country.

Some people agree with this solution to keep out immigrants but many do not agree because the United States doesn't plan on putting the wall/fence right along the border. They plan on having a 2 mile distance between the U.S. border and the wall/fence going into Texas. And many people are not happy with that idea.

But that is one way they plan on fixing the problem we have with immigrants.

Summertime

During the summer i like going places, sleeping in, and just doing whatever.
Places i like going are maybe to the beach down by the coast around Corpus or South Padre Is. because my family likes going sometimes during the summer. Or we'll go to waterparks like Six Flags or Schlitterbahn, places like that.
I love to sleep in during the summer and getting up whenever i want not having to get up early and get ready for school. Because during the school year i don't get alot of sleep because i get real busy thats why i like summer.
Or I'll go to my friends house alot and we'll go to the movies, or swimming, or the mall, or just hang out at their house..etc.
And thats usually what i do during the summer.

Introducing Me

My name is Angelica Mendez, and i am 15 years old since November.
It's my first year here at Anderson High as a fresman right now,
but i live in East Austin with my mom so it takes a while to get to and from school everyday on the school bus.
My hobbies are listening to music, hangin with friends, shopping, and i like softball too.
My favorite color is red, and I have 1 brother(18) and 1 sister(9)
